Founded in 1995, E.L. Wood Braiding is a family-owned and operated manufacturer of custom braided rope and cordage based in Marathon, New York. Located in the heart of Upstate New York, we proudly produce all our products in the USA—a commitment we’ve maintained since day one.
With decades of experience and a diverse manufacturing capability, we develop and produce custom braided solutions for customers across a wide range of industries, including defense, aerospace, tactical and military applications, marine, pet and equine products, outdoor recreation, fishing, hunting, camping, and apparel. We work with an extensive selection of high-performance fibers, including nylon, polyester, polypropylene, Kevlar, Spectra, Dyneema, Vectran, Technora, Teflon, and many others. Our products are available in diameters ranging from 1/16″ to 1″, allowing us to meet the unique requirements of virtually any application.

We are proud to be a trusted direct supplier to the United States Department of defense, specializing in the
manufacturing of high-quality rope products. As an authorized provider to government agencies, we adhere
to rigorous quality standards and specifications to meet Mil-Spec requirements. Through strict quality control
and complete manufacturing traceability, we deliver reliable braided cord products that military and
commercial customers trust. Our commitment to excellence has earned the confidence of our great country.
Some numbers and facts worth noting
Imagine producing 1,584,000 ft., 300 miles every day, and 78,000 miles of custom braided cordage per year. Laid end-to-end it’s a little more than three times around the earth in just one year (earth circumference is 24,901.55 miles). Can you imagine that? We can and we’re adding to those numbers every year. Some other interesting numbers include:
• The largest selection of colored nylon in the U.S.A with an endless number of color combinations
• One of the largest suppliers of braided “550” parachute cord in North America
• Supplier to NASA for fire resistant over braids used on water bags during the Space Shuttle take-offs
